How to lose weight during the holidays
One of this biggest challenges during the holidays is to not gain weight. Often times we tend to indulge too much and end up tipping the scale and feeling less then energetic. Finding a happy balance between tasting all of your holiday favorite foods and still managing to fit into your jeans is still possible though.
Here are some helpful tips to not gaining weight when the holiday season comes around.
1. Drink a full glass of water before beginning your meal. This will make you feel fuller.
2. Try to convince yourself that you can eat again later. This way, you won’t gorge yourself all in one sitting.
3. Prepare for your holiday meals by being active. Take walks, bike ride or go to the gym more then you usually would leading up to the holidays. This will increase your metabolism which will allow the holiday pies and cookies to pass through you quicker.
4. Don’t bring food home. My Mom always packs left overs for me and sends me home with 5 pounds of left over food. What then ends up happening is I get hungry at 12am (after walking up from my food coma) and I then go hunting for Turkey sandwichs. It’s best to leave this for someone else.
5. Minimze sweets. Taste them if you have to, but then move on.
I hope these tips help you as they have hepled me in the past to survive the holiday season without having to go and get my stomache stapled!
