Food ads that have taste
We have all opened up our magazines and seen the ads for food products that are new or that we may not have heard of yet. Now we will be able to taste them too.
Some companies are adding a new kind of ad to their line up of advertising in which you will be able to taste the product that you are thinking of purchasing. This is a new and different way of trying new products and may attract new customers. First there was the scratch and sniff and not the peel and lick.
The way it works is that you peel the sample off the page. It would look a lot like the breath sheets that we commonly use to freshen our breath. Anyway, you can get a taste of the products to see if you like it or not. Once the sample has been peeled it can’t be stuck back on the page. That way there is no worry of multiple people licking the same sample.
I don’t know what to think of this kind of advertising. Are the sales of new foods so low that they need to add tastes to magazines? I think it is a little too far for us to be doing yet, but many people actually think it could be cool. Would you really want to lick your favorite magazine? What about if it’s in a doctor office? I don’t know if I want to lick a public magazine. I guess I need to try it out before I make a total judgment.
